The world’s lightest folding phone

The folding touchscreen phone has become increasingly popular in recent years. Huawei is the latest company to create a folding phone which is also the lightest of its kind. The uses of folding phones are many, including increasing the size of the screen to enjoy a better experience while watching a show or browsing the internet. It also allows you to multitask while having different things open on each screen. Below we will go through the features of Huawei’s new foldable phone, the Mate X2.

Design and Build

The Huawei Mate X2 is built like many of the other foldable phones on the market from companies such as Samsung. However, some features allow it to stand out from the rest. This is the lightest foldable phone currently available and has a front display of 6.45 inches in size with an aspect ratio of 21:9. Huawei has done a great job with this foldable phone making it feel very much like a regular slab phone when folded. The Huawei Mate X2 also makes excellent use of maximizing the screen size with a minimal border and a small hole for the front camera.

The phone’s hinge is held by magnets, which provides a secure feeling while folded; however, this makes it somewhat difficult to open using just one hand. Unlike some other foldable phones on the market, you cannot half open the Huawei Mate X2 if you want to prop it up at an angle like a laptop. When the phone is open, the display is an impressive 8 inches wide and made almost entirely from glass and metal, giving it a sturdy feeling in your hand.

The Huawei Mate X2 comes in a range of colors, including white, pink, blue and black, which all leave a glossy finish on the side of the phone with the main camera. This phone has speakers on both the bottom and top, so even if the phone is folded, you will want to turn the screen horizontally to get the best stereo sound while watching something.

Display

The Huawei Mate X2’s front and internal display are OLED with a refresh rate of 90Hz. On the internal display, there is no camera which improves the viewing quality; however, it does sacrifice the use of a camera during video calls. It has a 2200 x 2480 resolution, providing great screen quality and experience while doing everything from browsing social media to watching a movie. Of course, with any foldable phone, there will be a crease, but Huawei has done a great job of making it as unnoticeable as possible so that it doesn’t take away from the overall experience of using the phone.

Specs and Performance

This phone uses the Kirin 9000 for power which is the latest 5nm silicon chip from Huawei. In addition, it has 8GB of RAM and the choice of either 512GB or 256GB of storage. This allows the Mate X2 to provide a smooth and enjoyable experience for users while performing simple tasks, like messaging, to more demanding tasks, such as gaming. The phone also has 5G capabilities as well as Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6, meaning that you will have the best connection possible wherever you decide to take it.

This phone also has fingerprint and facial recognition technology to unlock it, meaning that if it’s a bright day outside and you have your sunglasses on, you will have no trouble getting into your phone.

Battery and Charging

The Huawei Mate X2 has a 4500mAh battery to power both screens, which allows the phone to work throughout the entire day, which is what most people need. It takes around 15 minutes of charging to reach a battery level of 30% and approximately 30 minutes to reach a battery life of 65%, which is ideal when you don’t have a lot of time to sit around and wait for it to charge. This foldable doesn’t offer something that many of its competitors do, which is wireless charging, meaning that you will need to use a charging cable.
