In 2020, we saw our favorite sporting champions making it big on the course. And then there’s the chance of winning in sports betting—whether as a challenge or to make more money.

That being said, there are many sports activities that happen continuously each year some of which many are not aware of. In fact, in 2020, many were still in full swing despite the pandemic and others are hoping to make a return and bless sporting fans with amazing events such as Cheltenham 2021 tips or Wimbledon 2021. Stay glued as this article will reveal them all.

  • London Marathon

When we talk about sporting events, you just can’t ignore the London Marathon. It took place on October 4th, 2020, and involves professional long-distance races for both men and women. This includes wheelchair races and marathons for under 17 athletes.

No doubt, during 2020, the pandemic disrupted many sporting activities. Some restrictions were made, so not everyone could participate. Even though the conditions surrounding the event were not favorable for the competitors due to the pandemic, the marathon was still a success.

  • Formula One world championship

Formula One is amotorsport competition made to give titles and awards to drivers and constructors respectively. This event in 2020, was organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the first Formula One World Drivers championship.

It was scheduled to start in March but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to July. What’s more, the first stages of the competition were not done openly and when they were, it was with a reduced number of people. The challenge started at the Austrian Grand Prix in July and ended with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.

  • Euro 2020

Nobody really knew how 2020’s European Championship would turn out but it seems like it’s already anticipated by Football fans and sports betting centers around the world. The football tournament should have started off in Italy, and played in 12 different European countries but the football body governing the competition moved it to 2021 due to the Coronavirus restrictions. In fact, most of Europe’s top football leagues were suspended and some of the host countries were locked down with COVID-19.

  • Tour de France

Tour de France needs no introduction. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s an annual men’s bicycle race that is commonly held in France and occasionally in surrounding countries. Yet again, this is another sports event to look forward to. It started in 1903 and has continued every year except during the time of the two World Wars.

It’s played in different stages so different racers and teams win each classification depending on their areas of strength in the challenges given. For 2020, there were a lot of winners which included the Movistar Team. It was their third consecutive year of winning and Pogačar was the first rider to win the yellow, polka dot, and white jerseys in the same year.

To sum up, many of us look forward to the New Year thanks to all the new sporting activities on the books. With coronavirus destroying our fun in 2020, the world of sports in 2021 looks promising and will hopefully come to the rescue.
